CVE-2026-97487Hinoki check available

Kernel crash via unchecked block-size failure

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

Denial of service in the Linux kernel JFS driver allows local users to crash the kernel by mounting a filesystem with an unsupported block size. In jfs_fill_super(), the unchecked sb_set_blocksize() failure leaves an oversized device block size in place, and the first buffer read reaches a BUG_ON in folio_set_bh(). Reachability requires JFS support and permission to mount or probe a block device whose logical sector size exceeds PAGE_SIZE; successful triggering interrupts the host.
