Kernel crash via unchecked OMFS block size
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Denial of service in affected Linux kernels allows local users to crash the kernel by mounting a crafted OMFS filesystem image. The OMFS superblock setup ignores failed sb_set_blocksize calls, then passes an oversized buffer-head offset to folio_set_bh and hits a BUG_ON. Reaching the failure requires permission to mount the image; the resulting BUG can panic or otherwise interrupt the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
