Authenticated server crash via PauseExecution misuse
Published Jun 9, 2026 · Updated Jun 9, 2026
Reachable assertion in MongoDB Server allows remote authenticated users to crash mongod by submitting a crafted aggregation pipeline. The $_internalConvertBucketIndexStats stage returns PauseExecution after an index-stat conversion failure, but $facet's TeeBuffer treats that internal coordination signal as unexpected and triggers a hard invariant. Low privileges are required; affected versions are 7.0.0 through 7.0.34, 8.0.0 through 8.0.9, 8.2.0 through 8.2.9, and 8.3.0 through 8.3.2, and exploitation interrupts the database service without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0.0 <7.0.35
- Affected versionversion=8.0.0 <8.0.10
- Affected versionversion=8.2.0 <8.2.10
