Kernel warning via invalid unbinding-state check
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Improper exceptional-condition handling in Linux before 6.18.53 allows attackers to trigger a kernel warning during PCI device removal. The driver core function __device_links_no_driver treats a supplier in the legitimate DL_DEV_UNBINDING state as invalid while recursively unbinding linked consumers. Reaching the warning requires the affected device-link topology and driver removal; the published record reports a warning, not memory corruption or unauthorized data access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
