CVE-2026-97478Hinoki check available

Kernel use-after-free via irqfd shutdown race

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux before 6.18.53 allows local users to trigger freed ACRN irqfd access during eventfd shutdown. The acrn_irqfd_deassign path can free struct hsm_irqfd while an EPOLLHUP callback has already queued shutdown work, which later reconstructs and dereferences the dangling object. Reachability requires the ACRN Hypervisor Service Module and access to its irqfd lifecycle; the disclosure establishes unsafe kernel memory access but no further consequence.
