Kernel memory leak via unfreed RAPL package
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Memory leak in Linux before 6.12.111 and before 6.18.53 allows attackers to consume kernel memory during failed RAPL package additions. rapl_add_package_cpuslocked() returns ERR_PTR(-EINVAL) without freeing the rapl_package allocated by kzalloc_obj(). The failure requires a topology lookup to return a negative identifier, and every failed package addition leaks another allocation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
