Out-of-bounds read via unchecked AML field lengths
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in Linux 6.12 before 6.12.111 and 6.18 before 6.18.53 allow attackers to read past an AML buffer via malformed ACPI tables. acpi_ps_get_next_field() reads field opcodes, names, attributes, and access lengths without first checking them against ParserState->AmlEnd. Kernel exposure requires platform firmware or privileged loading of a crafted ACPI table; the public report demonstrates an AddressSanitizer abort in acpiexec, not a Linux kernel crash.
