Out-of-bounds read via truncated AML package length
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Linux before 6.12.111 or 6.18.53 allows attackers to read beyond an AML buffer via malformed ACPI data. ACPICA's acpi_ps_get_next_package_length() trusts the encoded follow-on byte count and reads past aml_end when fewer bytes remain. Reaching it requires truncated package-length encoding to enter ACPICA parsing; published evidence demonstrates an acpiexec abort, not kernel compromise.
