Out-of-bounds read via unvalidated handler objects
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds reads in Linux before 6.12.111 and 6.18.53 allow attackers to trigger invalid memory access through malformed ACPI objects. The acpi_ev_has_default_handler() and acpi_ev_find_region_handler() loops treat every linked-list entry as an address handler and read union fields without checking its object type. The public reproducer uses crafted AML in ACPICA's acpiexec test tool; the Linux kernel record does not establish an unprivileged runtime path or impact beyond the invalid read.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
