CVE-2026-97425

Kernel heap corruption via unbounded vBIOS write

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

A buffer overflow in affected Linux kernel branches before 6.12.111 and 6.18.53 allows local users to overwrite kernel heap memory. The psp_vbflash bin_attribute sets size to zero, so VFS does not cap the write offset and length before amdgpu_psp_vbflash_write copies into a 16 MiB allocation. Exploitation requires local write access to the AMD GPU vBIOS-update sysfs attribute on hardware that exposes IFWI updates, with kernel-memory corruption as the bounded consequence.
