CVE-2026-97411Hinoki check available

System hang via unconditional NAPI disable

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

Denial of service in the IBM EMAC MAL driver in Linux allows attackers to hang affected systems during driver removal. The mal_remove() path calls napi_disable() when no MAC was registered or after mal_unregister_commac() already disabled NAPI, making the kernel spin indefinitely while waiting for NAPI_STATE_SCHED to clear. Triggering the hang requires privileged local module or device removal; the consequence is a system-wide service interruption rather than data disclosure or modification.
