Stored XSS via unescaped avatar alt attribute
Published Oct 3, 2026 · Updated Oct 3, 2026
Stored XSS in Roxnor Wp Social Login and Register Social Counter 3.2.1 and earlier lets remote authenticated users inject scripts into avatar alt text. The nonce-only dismiss_ajax_call endpoint lets subscribers set xs_social_profile_image on their accounts, after which xs_social_get_avatar emits an img alt attribute without escaping a script-bearing display name. Exploitation requires subscriber access and a user to view a page that renders the affected avatar; the script executes in that viewer's browser.
