Persistent viewer-account takeover via share-link session
Published Oct 3, 2026 · Updated Oct 3, 2026
Improper authentication in Burst Statistics 3.7.1 and earlier lets remote attackers with a valid share token take over a viewer account. The maybe_load_shared_dashboard() handler grants that account a WordPress session without blocking the core REST password update. A valid share token is required; changing the viewer password preserves limited-privilege access after the token expires or is revoked.
