Service interruption via unbounded precision specifiers
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Denial of service in Alexandru Mărășteanu sprintf-js 1.1.3 and earlier allows attackers to abort operations via crafted format strings. The formatter accepts unbounded decimal precision in e, f, and g placeholders and passes it directly to Number.toExponential, Number.toFixed, or Number.toPrecision, which throws RangeError outside ECMAScript limits. An attacker must control a consumed format string; an uncaught exception interrupts the calling operation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
