Authentication bypass via empty JWT signing secret
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Authentication bypass in SigNoz 0.8.0 through 0.142.1 allows remote attackers to impersonate existing users with forged session tokens. Config.Validate() accepts an empty tokenizer::jwt::secret, causing the default JWT tokenizer to sign and verify session tokens with an empty HMAC key. An attacker needs an existing user ID, obtainable from the unauthenticated session-context endpoint, and can assume that user's privileges for up to 30 days.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
