Unauthenticated server crash via concurrent HPACK encoder modification
Published Oct 8, 2026 · Updated Oct 8, 2026
An HPACK race in Go standard library net/http before 1.26.9 allows remote attackers to crash HTTP/2 servers via header-table size changes. The server encodes response HEADERS and applies client SETTINGS_HEADER_TABLE_SIZE values to the same HPACK encoder from two goroutines without synchronization. Exposure requires a reachable HTTP/2 server using the affected implementation, including golang.org/x/net/http2 or net/http/internal/http2; the consequence is a server crash, not an HTTP/1-only failure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
