Application restart loops via unchecked exported keys
Published Sep 28, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026
Improper input validation in Flatpak on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, 8, 9, and 10 allows attackers to cause host application restart loops. During Desktop Entry and D-Bus Service export, Flatpak rewrites Exec but passes non-denylisted vendor-extension keys into host files; X-GNOME-AutoRestart can force restarts, while SystemdService can redirect D-Bus activation to a host unit. Exploitation requires installation of a malicious Flatpak application and host processing of its exports; the reported consequences are disruption and unintended host activation, not data access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
