Host file deletion via deployment path traversal
Published Sep 28, 2026 · Updated Sep 28, 2026
Path traversal in Flatpak deployment on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 through 10 allows attackers to delete host files through a malicious app. During installation or upgrade, deployment cleanup removes the app-controlled export/bin path without keeping deletion inside the deployment directory. Exploitation requires installation or upgrade of the malicious app; a system-wide installation performs the deletion as root.
