Unauthenticated account takeover via plaintext reset keys
Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026
Insecure password reset in Eventer 4.4.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over accounts by obtaining plaintext reset keys. The plugin writes each reset key in plaintext to the eventer_verification_code entry in wp_usermeta, and its custom reset action accepts that key to replace any user's password. Exploitation requires a separate way to read wp_usermeta, such as SQL injection, and the reset function operates only on PHP 7.4 and earlier.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
