Service interruption via unbounded JSON message read
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Apache Thrift Erlang JSON bindings before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt services via oversized messages. The thrift_json_protocol read_all_1 function accumulates transport bytes one at a time without a size bound or a message-end check before JSON parsing. Exposure requires an Erlang endpoint using this protocol with an untrusted peer; a long stream can consume memory or leave the request waiting for the stream to end.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
