Path traversal via unchecked preview paths
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Path traversal in MantisZip 0.4.0 through 0.4.5 allows remote attackers to escape the preview directory through a crafted archive. The Preview component in MainWindow.UI.cs passes an archive-controlled entry path to Path.Combine without verifying that the resolved path remains beneath the intended preview directory. A user must open or preview the malicious archive, and the resulting file access remains limited by the MantisZip process permissions.
