Remote denial of service via unbounded regex query
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Mooncake through 0.3.12 and 0.3.14-rc1 allows remote attackers to interrupt the master service via a regex query. MasterService::GetReplicaListByRegex accepts a caller-supplied expression and builds a response containing every matching key and its replica metadata without a documented response-size or resource bound. The master RPC must be network-reachable, and a sufficiently broad query can consume resources until service availability is interrupted.
