Arbitrary code execution via reactivated template interpolation
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Code injection in Orval 8.14.0 through 8.28.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted OpenAPI schema default. In @orval/effect, packages/effect/src/index.ts replaces the single-quote delimiters around an escaped default with backticks without re-escaping dollar-brace expressions, turning the default into live module-scope interpolation. Exploitation requires attacker control of the OpenAPI document and occurs when generated Effect schema code is built or imported, granting command execution in the developer or CI environment.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
