Cache lock takeover via owner expression injection

Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026

NoSQL expression injection in MongoDB Laravel MongoDB 4.3.0 through 5.10.0 allows remote authenticated users to take over cache locks. The cache lock implementation evaluates a caller-controlled owner value as a MongoDB aggregation expression instead of matching it as a literal. Exploitation requires an application path that lets an authenticated user influence the owner during lock acquisition or restoration, enabling premature expiry or takeover that can duplicate or conflict operations.
