Application abort via sparse binding indices
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the ALSA Library multi PCM plugin through 1.2.16.1 allows attackers to abort an application via a crafted configuration. The plugin uses sparse binding indices to access a binding array without first validating that each index is populated, reaching an assertion when an absent slot is read. Exploitation requires an application to load attacker-controlled ALSA configuration containing sparse multi-plugin bindings; the bounded result is termination of that application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
