Connection disruption via unvalidated CIP Connection IDs
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Denial of service in Rockwell Automation 1756-ENBT 6.006 allows remote attackers to disrupt device connections via crafted CIP packets. The packet-processing path fails to validate the Connection ID in CIP Implicit Connection packets before handling them. Network access to the module is sufficient; each interruption recovers immediately, but repeated packets can keep connections unavailable.
