CVE-2026-96420Hinoki check available

Application crash via short Toshiba OFFSET line

Published Sep 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026

Buffer over-read in Wireshark 4.4.0 through 4.4.18 and 4.6.0 through 4.6.8 allows attackers to crash it via a malformed Toshiba trace file. The Toshiba parser accepts a short OFFSET line, then parses a length at byte 64 even when the line read does not extend that far, reading stale stack data. A person must open the crafted trace file; the documented consequence is an application crash, not disclosed memory contents.
