CVE-2026-96396Hinoki check available

Preview-extension crash via image-buffer size overflow

Published Oct 9, 2026 · Updated Oct 9, 2026

Heap overflow in QuickLook in Canva Affinity before 3.3.1 allows attackers to crash macOS preview extensions via crafted documents. The thumbnail and preview extensions calculate image-buffer sizes unsafely, allowing integer overflow followed by a heap-based buffer overflow. Processing requires the crafted document to be displayed or previewed in Finder; the reported consequence is heap corruption and extension crashes, not arbitrary code execution.
