CIP Security bypass via revoked intermediate CA
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Certificate revocation failure in Logix 5380/5580 36 through 37 and 1756-EN4TR 6.001 and 7.001 allows remote attackers to bypass CIP Security. The CIP Security validation path accepts an end-entity certificate after its issuing intermediate certificate is listed on the enabled CRL, instead of rejecting the chain. Reachability requires CRL enforcement and intermediate certificates; acceptance permits an untrusted network connection and exposes controller data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
