CVE-2026-9634

SYSTEM privilege escalation via writable-path DLL hijacking

Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 1, 2026

DLL hijacking in Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Linx RMCT 9.00.00 through 10.00.00 allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges. RMConfigTool.exe searches PATH directories for a required DLL and loads a matching library from locations that default permissions can leave writable by standard users. Exploitation requires a local user to plant the DLL and an administrator to run the tool; the DLL then executes in the elevated process.
