WebSocket server crash via unhandled socket error
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Uncaught exception in Apache Thrift Node.js bindings before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to crash a WebSocket server via connection errors. The web_server.js upgrade handler leaves the upgraded socket without an error-event listener, so a socket error escapes its frame-processing exception handler and terminates the Node.js process. Exposure requires an application to run the Node.js web server with a reachable WebSocket endpoint; other Thrift language bindings are not implicated by this defect.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
