HTTP service slowdown via quadratic header parsing
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Inefficient header parsing in Apache Thrift Lua bindings before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to slow an HTTP service with crafted headers. THttpTransport:_parseHeaders applies an unanchored pattern with repeated whitespace matching to each header line, causing excessive matching work on long malformed lines. Exposure requires an application to use the Lua HTTP transport to parse attacker-controlled messages; the demonstrated consequence is CPU consumption rather than data access or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
