Service crash via unbounded wire-type recursion
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Uncontrolled recursion in Apache Thrift Erlang bindings before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to crash an RPC service with nested wire data. The thrift_protocol:skip/2 routine and its container loops follow peer-supplied type identifiers without tracking nesting depth, exhausting the Erlang call stack. Exposure requires an Erlang Thrift endpoint that processes attacker-controlled messages; generated typed reads are not the wire-controlled path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
