Service slowdown via quadratic Perl transport buffering
Published Oct 2, 2026 · Updated Oct 2, 2026
Algorithmic complexity in Apache Thrift Perl bindings before 0.25.0 allows remote attackers to slow RPC services with large framed messages. FramedTransport copies the unread remainder after each small read, while Socket copies the unsent remainder after partial writes, making repeated operations quadratic. Exposure requires a service using the Perl framed transport, or a Perl socket performing many partial writes; the supported consequence is resource exhaustion rather than data access.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
