Local file disclosure via OCI symlink following
Published Sep 27, 2026 · Updated Sep 27, 2026
Flatpak before 1.16.4 allows local users to read files accessible to its system helper through attacker-controlled OCI image symlinks. The flatpak-system-helper OCI import path follows symlinks in user-controlled images instead of confining file access to the image content. Exploitation requires a configured system OCI repository and exposes files readable in the helper's context, not arbitrary file modification.
