Host file overwrite via SDK directory traversal
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Path traversal in Flatpak 1.18.0 and earlier allows attackers to write host files through a malicious SDK extension. The build-init command resolves the extension point's attacker-controlled directory value with g_file_resolve_relative_path, which accepts .. components, before recursively deleting the destination and copying extension content. Exploitation requires a developer to process the malicious SDK with writable SDK and SDK extension options; reached paths can be deleted and replaced.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
