Application stall via unvalidated database type byte
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Improper input validation in Ghidra before 12.1.4 allows attackers to stall the application by importing a crafted program database. OptionsDB.createUnregisteredOption() uses the unvalidated TYPE_COL byte as an OptionType.values() array index, so an out-of-range value throws ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException while the domain object is locked. Importing the malicious database is required; the exception prevents cleanup and graceful shutdown, leaving the object permanently locked.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
