Host compromise via boot configuration stack overflow
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Stack overflow in IBM PowerVM Hypervisor FW1060.00 through FW1060.81 allows local users to compromise firmware via FSP data. The host firmware configuration parser corrupts stack memory during boot, compromising the subsequently loaded hypervisor; IBM does not disclose the faulty parsing operation. Authenticated service-level FSP access and system IPL are required, with managed-system data exposure, alteration, and availability impact reported but no specific crash or hang described.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
