Firmware code execution via mailbox storage overflow
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
Mailbox overflow in IBM PowerVM Hypervisor FW1060.00 through FW1060.81 allows local users to execute host firmware code. Crafted service processor mailbox messages overflow host firmware runtime attribute storage. Authenticated service-level access to the FSP is required; execution grants full access to managed-system memory and hardware interfaces.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
