Global configuration overwrite via injected agent instructions
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Improper file-write restriction in Amazon Web Services Kiro IDE before 1.0.242 allows remote attackers to overwrite global configuration. The file write tool accepts injected instructions from repository content and applies agent modifications to auto-loaded global configuration paths. A user must open the crafted repository as an untrusted workspace and send a message; resulting changes can persist under the user's Kiro configuration directory.
