Denial of service via malformed shared subscription
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Denial of service in Moquette before 0.18.1 allows remote attackers to disrupt broker sessions via malformed shared subscriptions. PostOffice.subscribe calls SharedSubscriptionUtils.extractShareName before validating that the complete shared-subscription structure includes a topic-filter portion, so $share/grp raises StringIndexOutOfBoundsException. Any MQTT client able to submit a SUBSCRIBE packet can terminate its shared session event loop and deny service to other sessions assigned to that loop.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
