CVE-2026-95834Hinoki check available

Heap memory corruption via aborted drag transfer

Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026

Use after free in kitty 0.47.0 through 0.48.2 allows attackers to corrupt terminal-process memory via crafted drag-source data. In kitty/dnd.c, drag_remote_file_data() retains a DragRemoteItem pointer after error handling calls cancel_drag(), which frees the owning offer, and then dereferences and writes through the stale pointer. Any program writing to the terminal can reach the path when a no-payload final transfer triggers a create, directory, or allocation error; the resulting terminal-process behavior is undefined.
