Cross-account device control via wildcard MQTT permissions
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Improper authorization in MrSteam iSteamX Mobile App 1.3.42 and iSteamX Hub 4.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to control others’ devices. The application’s AWS policy grants authenticated clients wildcard MQTT topic access without restricting permissions to the assigned user and device. Any authenticated account can read other users’ device data and issue start or stop commands, exposing profile information and risking unintended steam activation.
