CVE-2026-9567Public exploit

Local process crash via unchecked PSSH private data

Published May 26, 2026 · Updated May 26, 2026

Null-pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box 2.0 through 2.4.0 allows local users to crash the process via a malformed MP4 file. MergeFragment copies a PSSH box's declared private-data length with memmove without first checking whether its private_data source pointer is null. Triggering requires local execution of MP4Box -hint on attacker-controlled media; the demonstrated consequence is an abort of that process, not code execution or data modification.
