Command execution via untrusted MCP configuration auto-spawn
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
OS command injection in Kimi Code CLI 0.31.0 and earlier allows attackers to execute commands through a malicious workspace MCP configuration. The MCP configuration loader starts stdio servers declared in an untrusted .mcp.json before workspace trust is confirmed and resolves helper binaries through PATH. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted workspace; commands run with that user's privileges, and planted fd or stty binaries can execute before confirmation.
