Update rollback via webview-controlled downgrade flag
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Improper authorization in Tauri Updater Plugin 2.8.0 through 2.11.0 allows context-dependent attackers to permit signed update rollbacks. The check IPC command accepts allowDowngrades from frontend JavaScript and changes its comparator from newer-only to any different version. Exploitation requires script execution in an application's webview, such as XSS; the flaw permits selection of a genuine older signed build, while further compromise requires another bug.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
