Crash via unchecked CSN.1 array writes
Published Sep 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026
Heap overflow in Wireshark 4.4.0 through 4.4.18 and 4.6.0 through 4.6.8 allows attackers to crash the CSN.1 dissector. The csnStreamDissector CSN_RECURSIVE_ARRAY case writes decoded elements into a fixed-size heap array without checking destination capacity. A crafted GSMTAP packet encountered during live capture or a malformed trace opened for analysis triggers the overwrite; a crash is confirmed, but code execution is not.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
