Cross-extension code execution via DevTools shortcut race
Published Sep 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026
Site-isolation bypass in Google Chrome before 154.0.8037.57 allows remote attackers to run code in another extension's context via a crafted extension. DevTools checks a forwarded shortcut before rereading its mutable event properties, then evaluates an expression in a selected call frame without rechecking its extension owner. Exploitation requires installation of a malicious DevTools extension, an active victim extension, and an opened DevTools session; the demonstrated result includes access to the victim extension's storage.
