Password disclosure via non-constant-time hash comparison
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Observable timing discrepancy in changedetection.io 0.60.0 through 0.60.7 allows remote attackers to infer password bytes through login requests. The check_password function in changedetectionio/flask_app.py derives a PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 value, concatenates its salt, and compares the resulting bytes with stored bytes using the non-constant-time == operator. Password protection must be enabled and repeated measurements are needed; successful exploitation discloses information about the configured password without authenticating.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
