Denial of service via unchecked RECT buffering
Published Oct 8, 2026 · Updated Oct 8, 2026
Heap overflow in Ming 0.4.8 and earlier allows attackers to interrupt SWF processing via a malformed or truncated RECT header. In src/blocks/fromswf.c, r_readc() stores each header byte in a nine-byte rect array and increments rectlen without checking its bounds. Exploitation requires an application to parse an attacker-controlled SWF file; the supplied record reports denial of service without specifying a crash or hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
